Our educational institute mainly works with young people who have been diagnosed with a “learning disability”. There are often very different causes for the restrictions in the area of “reading and writing”. One of the most common causes is a visual perception disorder. The eyes jump back and forth when reading and children and young people find it difficult to concentrate on an entire text. The use of the celeco software has been extremely supportive for the young people who are undergoing subsidised training with us, as they have been able to work with the programme over a period of 2 to 3 years. In these cases, we used the option of entering their own texts (job-related texts), having the texts read on the computer or having them printed out with the syllable sheets. The successes of the last few years were impressive, as the young people had already passed through the special schools and showed no visible reading success. Learning to read again at the age of 15 – 16 was both exciting and motivating for everyone involved.
We would like to thank you for developing this software, which has offered many pupils a path to normality and the opportunity to take responsibility for their own learning!
