I became aware of your programme at a book club event in Wels, Upper Austria, in spring 2002. As part of the Vorarlberg reading initiative, we carried out extensive reading tests in our 4th grade last autumn, which showed the reading weaknesses/reading strengths of the individual pupils quite well. This also revealed a small group of readers with deficits on several levels (still uncertain when reading together, lack of eye span, lack of memory capacity, etc.). I worked with these pupils once or twice a week from January to the end of April using their programme. Without exception, all of the pupils in this support group were motivated to take part in the programme. Not only I, but also the pupils themselves noticed an improvement in their reading performance – on the one hand in the increase within the programme and on the other in regular lessons. In my opinion, the progress would have been even better if several practice sessions could be organised each week, e.g. daily training at home.
